Philips Evnia 8000 34″ Curved QD OLED Gaming Monitor Review

I’ve reviewed a lot of monitors over the years here at eTeknix, I’m not sure how many, but it’s most certainly into the triple digits. I’ve seen a pretty wide range of monitors in that time, from affordable models that cost under £100, to monster-class products that cost £2000+, but to this day, I still haven’t had a single OLED monitor… well, until now. The Philips Evnia is packing all the right features to make it one of the most interesting monitors we’ve had in the office for a long time. Plus, while it’s not cheap at around £1200, it’s far from the most expensive panel we’ve ever had, which only makes its credentials even more impressive.

Philips Evnia 8000

The first thing is the OLED panel, which uses quantum dot technology, making it QD-OLED. This means it can deliver higher contrast, unlimited viewing angles, higher peak brightness and better colours, all while retaining that legendary perfect black that OLED is known for, as well as blisteringly fast 0.1ms response times. However, all that is backed up by an impressive 3440 x 1440 resolution, 175Hz refresh rate with DP, 100Hz over HDMI, and DisplayHDR True Black 400 from its 34″ 21:9 aspect 1800R curved panel.
