Phison Reveal High-Performance consumer DRAM-less SSD @ Computex 2026

At Computex 2026, Phison displayed the reference design PS5037-E37T that will come to market later this year with BiCS 4800MT/s NAND. The E37T is an extremely high-performance consumer DRAM-less SSD designed to reduce the cost of solid-state drives in 2026 and 2027 without compromising performance.
Several SSD controller companies have new DRAM-less designs at Computex, including Silicon Motion’s SM2524XT. What makes the E37T stand out from the crowd is its industry-leading 14.9 GB/s performance. If you are paying attention, that is the same performance as Phison’s flagship E28 DRAM SSD that currently sells for over $400 USD for a 2TB drive. Phison says the E37T will be quite a bit less than the flagship E28 that has dominated the market since its release in late 2025.

Phison learned after the E26, the world’s first PCIe Gen5 SSD, that customers care about power consumption, even in flagship products designed for heavy use in desktops and workstations. With the E28, power peaked at just 7 watts, down from 11.55 watts with the E26. The new E37T virtually halves that number again, with the company showing the E37T pulling just 4.5 watts while transferring at full 14.9 GB/s speeds.

We spoke with Chris Ramseyer, Phison’s Director of Technical Marketing and Client Solutions PMM, about the E37T. He stated, “The new E37T is built for the age of AI. DRAM prices are high, so we really wanted to focus on a solution to bring costs down for enthusiasts and even mainstream users.” He went on to say, “PCIe Gen5 has been on the market for several years now. No one wants to keep using a PCIe 4.0 SSD in their new system or notebook when a simple drop-in upgrade doubles performance. E37T gives users that new PC feel because it was designed to work with next-generation NAND. The combination of the newest controller and the latest in NAND technology reduces latency, and that makes your computer feel faster.”
Chris wasn’t the only one to say so. Just a day prior to the Computex doors opening, Jon Coulter from TweakTown took the new E37T reference design for a performance test and called it, “The best consumer SSD ever made.” You can read more from the Phison PS5037-E37T preview article here.
