The console war is in full swing now, with both the Xbox One and the PlayStation 4 still flying off the shelves at retailers around the world. The PlayStation 4 is certainly in the lead at the moment and according to PlayStation UK boss Fergal Gara, it is out selling the Xbox One here in the UK at a rate of 1.5:1.
However, while the new consoles may be selling in favour of the Sony brand, previous generation consoles, the Xbox 360 and the PlayStation 3 show a different story, and the Xbox 360 is beating the PlayStation 3 at the rate of 1:1.51 according to the latest sales data.
Having sold an impressive 4.2 million units worldwide by the end of 2013, and obviously even more now that were a full month into the new year, the PlayStation 4 was the UK’s fastest ever selling console. Xbox One did twice as good at launch in the UK than the Xbox 360 did and has shipped over 3.9 million units worldwide. However, the Xbox One launched in less countries than the PlayStation 4, but will be launching in those territories shortly, and the PlayStation 4 is yet to launch on its home turf, so the rest of 2014 could be very exciting for both companies.
