Sony Interactive Entertainment CEO, Hermen Hulst, has emphasized that PlayStation‘s lineup of “great games” has become increasingly diverse, with a community larger than ever. Hulst shared these insights during a recent episode of the official PlayStation podcast, alongside Team Asobi’s Nicolas Doucet, where they discussed the success of Astro Bot. He highlighted that this range of genres is a critical strategy for PlayStation’s continued growth.
A Commitment to Variety in PlayStation Games
During the podcast, Hulst stressed the significance of offering games in various genres. “Game launches are massively important, and they’re different for every team,” he explained, reflecting on the broader business considerations in his role as CEO of the Studio Business Group at SIE.
Hulst went on to emphasize the importance of PlayStation Studios producing games that appeal to a broad audience, including family-friendly options. He noted, “PlayStation has a bigger community than it’s ever had, and I think our portfolio of great games is more diverse now.”
He also described the launch of Astro Bot as a celebration of the elements that have made PlayStation a leading force in the gaming world. “It’s a celebration of joy and of collaboration,” he added, underscoring the company’s focus on innovation and community-building.
