They don’t go all-in on massive RGB setups or extreme cooling solutions like some other brands, but they’ve been making solid, no-nonsense cards for years. And now, we finally have one back on the test bench—the RTX 5070 Ti OC. This is a card designed to sit in that sweet spot between high-end performance and, hopefully, not-so-high-end pricing. But in 2025, where GPU pricing makes less sense than ever, does it actually land where it should? That’s what we’re going to find out, but before we get into that, here’s a quick word from this video’s sponsor. PNY RTX 5070 Ti OC First, we need to address the biggest issue—pricing. The RTX 50 series is still in that weird phase where MSRP means almost nothing, and availability is a hot mess. On paper, the 5070 Ti should be a great option for anyone who wants strong performance without jumping into the pricing black hole of the 5080 or 5090. But in reality, some models are already creeping past their expected pricing, which puts them dangerously close to what the RTX 5080 was supposed to cost. Features Architecture: NVIDIA Blackwell CUDA Cores: 8,960 Clock Speed: 2.3 GHz Memory: 16GB GDDR7 Display Outputs: 3x DisplayPort, 1x HDMI Thermal Design Power (TDP): 300W Then there’s stock availability. Some listings vanish instantly, others are sitting at scalper prices, and at this point, the 5070 Ti is at risk of falling into the same cycle we’ve seen before—limited stock, inflated prices, and artificial scarcity which no consumer wants. So onto the card itself. This is an overclocked model, which means a slight bump in clock speeds out of the box. The boost clock comes in at 2572MHz, which is just under a 5% increase over stock. Not bad, but also not game-changing, since a 5% clock speed increase doesn’t necessarily mean a 5% FPS boost—it’s a little more complicated than that. Memory speed stays the same at 1750MHz or 28 Gbps effective, which is standard for all 50-series cards. But, as we’ve seen before, there’s usually plenty of headroom for overclocking, which we’ll get into later. A Closer Look Now, here’s where things get interesting. PNY is using the exact same cooler on this OC model as they do on their non-OC version. So while you’re paying more for the factory overclock, the physical hardware is identical to the standard 5070 Ti non-OC. No extra cooling, no premium components, just a factory overclock slapped on top along with a $50 premium, but that’s not the end of the world considering some competitors sometimes demand a higher premium than that for the same kind of bump in clock speed. That said, it’s still a solid cooler. It’s 300mm long, 120mm high, and 60mm thick, making it a proper triple-slot card. And I mean actual triple-slot, not just a cooler that overhangs past two slots. It also weighs in at 1430 grams, which isn’t particularly heavy, so it doesn’t come with a support bracket—but honestly, at this size, it doesn’t really need one either. The design is simple with an all-black plastic shroud with three fans, with the middle one spinning in reverse to help push heat across the heatsink and unlike some other cards, PNY uses a twin heatsink solution connected to the cold plate with seven heat pipes with the shroud covering part of the heatsink along the top, but otherwise, ends up looking quite industrial, and despite being plastic, actually still feels solid. Because this is the same cooler as the MSRP version, there’s no RGB, no dual BIOS, and no extra features, and honestly, that’s fine by me. At this price point, cutting down on unnecessary extras makes sense, or at least, it would if pricing wasn’t such a mess. Now, in terms of design, it’s a bit of a mixed bag. The full metal backplate looks great, especially with the included thermal pads to help with heat dissipation, but I wish that styling carried over to the front of the card. Instead, we get these glossy plastic bits that don’t feel as premium and honestly cheapen the look a little, but if you’re installing the card horizontally, as I’m sure most people will be, you won’t really see it anyway, so isn't a big issue anyway. For I/O, it’s exactly what you’d expect for a 5070 Ti. Three DisplayPorts, one HDMI and power-wise, we’ve got the standard 12V 2x6 connector, though PNY does include a triple 8-pin adapter in the box. Nothing surprising here, just the essentials. Overclocking One thing we always do in these reviews is push the card to its limit and see how much extra performance we can squeeze out. Since this is already a factory-overclocked model, any tweaks we make are on top of the pre-applied boost, which means we’re just increasing the overclock a bit more. We managed to push the boost clock up by another 360MHz, giving a 14% increase over the default RTX 5070 Ti boost clock while on the memory side, just like other 50-series cards, we hit the maximum 3000MHz effective, which translates to a real-world speed bump of 375MHz. GPU-Z Stock Software Settings Power & Temperatures Running an hour-long loop of F1 24, we compared stock and overclocked results against our MSI reference card to see how things stacked up. Temperatures sat around 72°C on average at stock, while the overclock only added an extra one degree, which is well within the margin of error., while memory junction temperatures remained practically identical across all runs. Fan speeds hovered around 1600 RPM at both stock and overclocked settings, never getting particularly loud when compared to other fans in the system and while the power draw increased slightly with the higher power limit, settling at 312 watts on average, things still aligned with where we expected them to for this type of card. Testing Methodology We continue to update our testing methods around once per year. As such, we re-test older hardware to reflect changes over time. These can be driver updates, Windows updates, game patches, and more; all of which have an impact on performance figures. Furthermore, we update our test benches to newer and more relevant hardware. This means that our new reviews aren’t always comparable to those of older reviews, so please compare the testing methodology on older reviews should you be trying to compare them with newer ones. Replicate Our Results When it comes to our benchmarks in our reviews, the benchmarks are pretty self-explanatory and are kept as simple as possible, although there are a few exceptions. Remember that your choice of a graphics card, CPU, the silicon lottery, and other factors can yield different numbers, and there’s always a margin for error when using any software. Links are provided below, as well as the settings we use. We encourage you to not just look at how one product compares to any other, but how it compares to your own. If you’re looking to build a new system, you should benchmark your current PC using the benchmarks available to you. You should then look at the percentage improvement from your current hardware to the hardware tested here to give you a ballpark figure of how much of an upgrade this will provide you with. Some applications are specifically used for testing, while others are simply used for monitoring and to aid us in making sure that our results are as accurate as possible. Software Used 3DMark FireStrike & TimeSpy (download) Gaming To gauge performance levels which are easily reproduced time after time, by both ourselves and our readers, we now stick strictly to games default profiles. Given how powerful most modern cards are getting, we've began using more demanding profiles for most games, but will otherwise state on a per game basis if we use other profiles beyond High, Ultra, Maximum or their respective equivalent at all resolutions. V-Sync is always disabled in our testing, and all FPS caps that can be removed are. We also enable XMP and Resizable bar technology across all platforms to keep things as fair as possible. Games While we test a lot of games, it's not possible to display all of the data on the website or in our videos. Instead, we include access to all of our testing data for our Patreon members (link), where members get a ton of other benefits as well. What we do, however, is display charts for averages across all game titles to give a better picture of performance across all titles tested. However, these will be clearly labelled and may only appear in reviews for graphics cards that support those features. Power Consumption Not being content with simply reading total system power draw, we now run F1 24 for an hour loop and measure power draw at the end of the loop for the most accurate measurement that represents real-world gameplay experience. Temperatures We take temperature readings after the same hour-long F1 24 loop with no other background programs running, again to simulate a real-world gaming experience. Rasterization When it comes to raw performance, the PNY RTX 5070 Ti OC holds its own in the stack, consistently outperforming the MSI VENTUS and INNO3D X3 across most titles. It even edges out the RTX 4080 SUPER in some cases, though usually by a small margin. Then overclocking gives it another solid push, widening the gap between competitors and making it one of the strongest 5070 Ti cards available, though there’s nothing stopping you overclocking those cards to level the playing field.. In standard rasterization, the PNY card is anywhere from 3% to 7% faster than the competition, with notable wins in Black Myth: Wukong and Cyberpunk 2077, where it beats out both the VENTUS and INNO3D by a fair margin. Overclocking then further improves performance, adding 4-8% on average, which in turn helps to keep it ahead of its closest rivals. A Plague Tale: Requiem A Plague Tale: Requiem is a stealth-survival horror adventure that serves as a direct sequel to A Plague Tale: Innocence. Players continue the harrowing journey of Amicia and Hugo de Rune, two young siblings navigating a plague-ridden France in the 14th century. The game features stunning visuals, intense action sequences, and a gripping narrative that explores themes of family, resilience, and the darkness within. Black Myth Mukong Black Myth Wukong is an action role-playing game inspired by the classic Chinese novel "Journey to the West." Developed by Game Science, it features stunning graphics, challenging combat encounters, and a captivating story based on the legendary Monkey King. Ray Tracing Performance Ray tracing performance is where things get more interesting. The PNY OC model remains the top-performing 5070 Ti, but only by a 1-2 FPS advantage over its competitors and again, overclocking gives it a further 9% boost, but since ray tracing is already demanding, this only translates to marginal real-world gains. If I’m being picky, the one area where the card does fall behind slightly is in the lows in some games, though in this case, overclocking can help to stabilize things, but if consistency is a priority, it’s something to keep in mind. Overall, the PNY RTX 5070 Ti OC is one of the stronger options in its category, offering solid gains over competitors at stock and even better improvements when overclocked. If you're looking for a 5070 Ti with a bit of extra headroom, this is definitely one to consider though offerings from AMD definitely make it a harder option now than when it first launched. How Much Does it Cost? So, how does the PNY RTX 5070 Ti OC actually stack up? Well, in terms of raw performance, it holds up surprisingly well—consistently beating out the MSI VENTUS and INNO3D X3, but there’s some important context here. Those are MSRP models, while this one comes in slightly higher at $799.99. Not a huge price jump, but it does make you wonder—if you can overclock the non-OC version to match this, then that could be the better value pick at $750 MSRP, and that brings us to the real issue. Can you actually find it at that price? Realistically, no. Stock is a mess. Prices are all over the place. Some retailers list it at MSRP, but good luck grabbing one before it sells out. We’re still dealing with inflated pricing, scalpers, and the usual launch chaos, even over a month since its launch. Overview Putting that all to one side, let’s talk about the card itself. Is it good? Yes. It’s a clean, no-nonsense design that doesn’t scream 'gamer' with flashy RGB. The cooler is sleek, simple, and blends into any build, whether it’s for gaming or a workstation. No distractions, no gimmicks, just solid performance, all while staying cool and quiet. A Worth Upgrade? As a generational leap over the RTX 4000 series? The 5070 Ti in terms of GPU core isn’t groundbreaking unless you care about multi-frame generation, but if you’re upgrading from a 3000 series or older, the gains are significant, especially with ray tracing and frame generation becoming more of a factor in modern games. Great Card, Hard to Find And that’s where we land. If this card was readily available at $800, it’s a fairly easy recommendation, but in a world where pricing is still unpredictable, you’ll have to decide if the performance bump is worth the extra premium. If you can snag it for retail? Great choice. If not? Like we said in our launch day review, then you might want to hold out. Should I Buy One? It's worth keeping in mind that since the launch of the 5070 Ti, AMD has released their cheaper, but almost comparative 9070 XT, and that just throws another spanner into the works. If however, you’re specifically looking for a 5070 Ti, then the PNY is good, though again, pricing is always going to be the thing that’s not quite holding it back but is definitely an obstacle in its way.
