PNY showcase the Optima Pro solid state drives

A new product has come to light from the IT Partners event taking place in France. PNY is reportedly showcasing a new range of solid state drives which are to be called the Optima Pro. They will be of ‘Enterprise grade’ which means they will focus more on longevity and reliability as opposed to just raw speed. The Optima Pro drives use SandForce’s SF-2582 controller to help achieve some solid read and write speeds of over 500MB/s which certainly isn’t shabby for a SATA III SSD. MLC NAND Flash memory chips are used to provide the storage and the Optima Pro SSDs will come packed in the usual 2.5″ form factor housing which also has a sleep brushed metal design which should also act as passive cooling too. The Optima Pro SSDs will come in 120 or 240GB capacities only and at this stage pricing is not known but given the ‘Enterprise grade’ labelling we expect these to be significantly more expensive than consumer grade SSDs.
