Pokémon Fan Spends $90,000 on Charizard-Shaped Cheese Cheetos
A cheese chip might not seem like it would cost much, but if it’s shaped like the Pokémon Charizard, it can go for around $90,000. To be exact, one Pokémon fan spent $87,840 (plus extra fees) to buy a Flamin’ Hot Cheeto shaped like Charizard, which seems to be their favorite Pokémon.
The sale happened at the Goldin auction house. The Cheetozard (as it’s called) was made between 2018 and 2022. It’s hard to imagine the buyer will actually eat it, though they might consider it an honor to die from eating Charizard, given how much they paid for it.
The Packaging and Final Price
Who wouldn’t spend $90,000 for something like this? The similarity between the Cheetozard and Charizard is pretty impressive. Plus, there’s an interesting connection: Charizard is a fire-type Pokémon, so it’s no surprise it evolved into a spicy chip.
The packaging is also cool—it looks like a Pokémon trading card, complete with a health value of 120 points. Sadly, it doesn’t list any moves, so it can’t be used in tournaments.
This just shows how crazy Pokémon fans can get. The auction started at just $250. Over time, the price went up rapidly with bid after bid. The 60th bid was the winning one. The final price also included $19 for shipping and an additional 0.9% insurance fee. But for this wealthy fan, it’s probably not a big deal.
