Pokémon Go Player Shot During Magikarp Hunt

We’ve heard of quite a few incidents now where Pokémon Go players have been put at risk. Now it seems like it’s gone one step further with a Pokémon player getting shot while they were out farming for a relatively unwanted pokémon.
The latest event happened early on Monday the 25th July while six players were gathered in a park hunting not just any Pokémon, but a Magikarp. Things went from a good day to a very bad day as two men pulled up in an SUV. To encourage cooperation, one of the men pulled out a gun and held the six potential pokémon master at gunpoint.
Things started getting even worse when one of the Pokémon players pulled out a second gun, something which would only inevitably end with a shootout. The shootout ended with two people injured, including one of the other players who suffered a shot to the stomach (although it is unconfirmed as to whom shot him).
With both the pokémon player and one of the perpetrators injured, both are currently in hospital recovering from their injuries with the latter expected to be charged for his attempted actions. This is just the latest in a long stream of attacks on Pokémon Go players, with criminals targeting both players and the stops they regularly visit, and a trend we expect to see continue as the games popularity grows.
Another sad day for the gaming community and no we’re not blaming the game for this incident.
