Pokemon go is sending people to the police

When it comes to augmented reality games, it’s not hard to lose yourself from the real world. This has become even more apparent courtesy of Pokémon Go which sees players exploring the real world hunting down their favourite pocket monsters. The problem is, Pokémon Go is sending users to police stations and other sites where they might not welcome.

Pokémon Go encourages people to be a master using their phones GPS and back facing cameras to bring to life everyone’s favourite creatures while forcing them to explore the real world they’ve so often avoided on their screens. The problem is the Northen Territory Police, Fire and Emergency services Facebook page has reminded people that people shouldn’t follow their phones all the way into police stations.

The post reads:

For those budding Pokemon Trainers out there using Pokemon Go — whilst the Darwin Police Station may feature as a Pokestop, please be advised that you don’t actually have to step inside in order to gain the pokeballs.

It’s also a good idea to look up, away from your phone and both ways before crossing the street. That Sandshrew isn’t going anywhere fast.

Stay safe and catch ’em all!

While it’s nice that the police are reminding us about our safety you can just imagine how awkward it is when the policemen ask you why you’re standing there and your reply is “Pikachu”.
