Just before the RX 480 launched last month, PowerColor kicked off a contest to win a new GPU. Part of their high-end DEVIL lineup, PowerColor left the specifics vague, leading to suggestions it was either an RX 480 or a dual RX 480 GPU. Now, for the first time, we’re getting a look at the first DEVIL graphics card for this generation.
First off, the card keeps PowerColor’s usual red and black aesthetic seen with many of their graphics cards. The fully custom PCB is cooler by a triple-fan solution which should be more than enough for the RX 480. Power ic provided by a 8pin PCIe power connector which should avoid the problems seen by the reference RX 480, ensuring the PCIe slot will be operating within specification. The card also sports a DVI display output as well.
Most importantly, performance and overclocking won’t be held back on the DEVIL. According to the source, the card overclocks to above 1400 Mhz without any issue which is a good margin over the reference models. Given that we don’t know if this is the reference factory overclock or user applied, there may be even more headroom available to push the GPU. Hopefully, we’ll get more details for the card when the contest ends on July 11th.
