Powercolor Trumps Gigabyte by releasing passively cooled HD 6850
Ryan Martin / 7 years ago
PowerColor has released a passively cooled version of the AMD HD 6850 graphics card. The card will use a core clock speed of 775mhz and a memory clock speed of 1000mhz (4000mhz effective). Those clocks are the reference clock speeds from AMD.
The card will be available in a 1GB GDDR5 model. As for components PowerColor have emphasized the use of “gold power kit” parts which will apparently increase reliability and product lifespan.
This product follows after news of Gigabyte’s passively cooled HD 6770, it will be interesting to see when the card has been fully tested what the thermals are like and whether the card can respond to overclocking without overheating.
Score one for the little guy 🙂
lets hope this actually reaches the UK market.y put a red PCB on it FGS :(!?!?this is great for low noise, or to strap a quiet 120mm fan of ur choice to it :D!
i think red has always been the theme with radeon cards, although it doesnt look great, black would look much nicer
it only seems powercolour who constantly think red PCB is awesome.not many other AMD board partners use red PCB's last time i checked. i wish they'd just hurry and ditch them :p!
