PowerColor’s HD 7970 Vortex pictured

While most cards we have seen so far from AMD’s partners have been reference cards with different stickers on, there has been some exceptions including Gigabyte and XFX. It appears that PowerColor is also planning on being added to the list.

A couple of pictures of their upcoming product reveals that the non-reference HD 7970 will make its entry in the Vortex series. When looking at the PCB, few features give away what it will offer except for the beefier VRM and the power drawn from two 8-pin PCI-Express power connectors. This suggests the possibility of a factory overclock.

With the Vortex cooler providing efficient cooling, the card should also allow more overclocking headroom compared to the reference.

Display output also reveals two DVI, one HDMI and two mini-DisplayPort.

Date of release and its price are still unknown.
