Price of Playstation phone cut almost in half

The Sony Ericsson’s Xperia Play has experienced a dramatic drop in price, with some retailers slashing the price by almost 50%. Expansys dropped the price of the Playstation phone from the RRP of £499.9 to a much more reasonable £289 (after a £10 discount using the EXP10 voucher code). Other retailers such as Play.com dropped the price to £299. Despite the online retailers drop in price, high street prices haven’t changed and are still selling the product at the full £500.

The Xperia Play by Sony Ericsson was first released on April 1st, it runs the Android 2.3 Gingerbread OS and comes with a Playstation certification which allows you to access content via the Playstation Suite. With features such as a 4” 854×480 pixel touchscreen and its 1GHz CPU it can handle 60fps video at 720p content with no problem at all. With the lowered price it’s able to compete with other smartphones such as the iPhone 4, where the 16GB version retails at around £500.
