Pricing details on AMD fusion desktop FM1 systems

Although the fusion and Llano processor release is mainly being focused around the mobile and laptop market it is also being launched on the desktop market as well. Some American online computer stores have been listing the parts for sale as of today and prices are lower than expected.

The top of the range A8-3850, which is a 2.9GHz quad core with a HD 6550D, is going to come in at $150 which is £92. It is worth noting that the specifications of the mobile A8-3850 and the desktop A8-3850 differ. This set up has a TDP of 100W, support for 1866 memory and 400 shaders in the GPU.

The mid range A6-3650 is listed for $126/£76 and has a similar set up to the A8 model above except it has a HD 6530D which has only 320 cores compared to the 400 in the A8 model. This also runs at a TDP of 100W with 4MB of L2 cache on the CPU.

AMD will also be releasing lower end E2 and A4 variants of the Llano desktop range and these will be dual cores at much cheaper prices, if the above were not already cheap enough. AMD looks set for a revival with incredibly cheap quad cores and DX11 fusion units being mass produced. They are sure to be taken well by big PC firms like HP, Dell and Acer that will be happy to stick DX11 and Quad core branding on the cheapest of systems.
