Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake Seems to Have Changed the Two Main Characters and Gameplay Elements
Some interesting new details have emerged about Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake, the updated version of the first 3D chapter of the series. The game is expected to release next year and appears to feature changes to the main characters and other gameplay elements compared to the original.
Recently, rumors suggested a possible release date in January 2026. That would mean the game is coming soon, which is surprising given that Ubisoft has not shared any official updates.
According to reports based on a leaked Ubisoft media briefing, there will be some differences from the original game, aimed at modernizing both the gameplay and the story.
Updated Cast and Story Direction
Leaked materials seem to reveal the actors chosen to play the main characters — the Prince and Princess Farah. However, Farah will not be a playable character, contrary to earlier rumors.
The new actor playing the Prince appears to better match the intended look and background of the character. Based on what has surfaced, Ubisoft may have chosen a Middle Eastern actor, giving the character a voice and presence that feel more authentic to the Persian setting.
Ubisoft has also completely reworked the game’s motion capture and cutscenes, shooting them again with new actors and recording fresh dialogue sessions.
The leaked documents suggest the developers have reimagined gameplay to make the parkour, puzzle-solving, and time-rewind systems smoother and more connected.
Combat has also been modernized, featuring more dynamic and acrobatic moves, aligned with the Prince’s improved agility. Players can expect a broader range of actions and attacks, making the experience feel more fluid and cinematic.
