The previous generation of consoles technically ended with the arrival of the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. However, over the past few years, many players have continued to enjoy gaming on older platforms like the PlayStation 4, which remains quite popular.
Now, that era is almost over. In November 2025, only one AAA game will be released for the PlayStation 4 — and, rather ironically, it will be published by Xbox.
The Only AAA Game Coming to PS4 in November
You’ve probably guessed it already — we’re talking about Call of Duty: Black Ops 7. Activision’s famous franchise hasn’t yet abandoned the PlayStation 4 or Xbox One, as many fans still haven’t moved on to the new generation of consoles.
Sony no longer releases new games for the PS4, and even major third-party publishers have mostly left the console behind. However, there are still a few exceptions. In the AAA category, November’s release of Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 might be one of the last major games ever launched for PS4.
Considering that the PS4 is now 12 years old, it’s no surprise that it’s no longer a priority. Still, it will be interesting to see whether players who haven’t yet bought a PS5 will finally decide to upgrade — perhaps to experience the next Call of Duty in 2026 at its best.
