PS5 Dominates US Black Friday 2025, Xbox Falls Behind NEX Playground
According to data from Circana, the PlayStation 5 dominated Black Friday sales in the United States, accounting for nearly half of all hardware sales during the week ending November 29.
Specifically, Sony’s console captured 47% of total hardware sales, followed by the Nintendo Switch 2 with 24%. Surprisingly, Xbox did not take third place — that position went to NEX Playground.
A New Family Console Takes the Spotlight
What is NEX Playground? It’s a family-oriented console equipped with a camera that tracks player movements and includes a wide variety of mini-games designed to encourage interaction between parents and children.
NEX Playground reached 14% of sales, but Xbox’s drop shouldn’t be misunderstood. In the week before Black Friday — considered the introductory period — the NEX console actually managed to outsell even the PlayStation 5.
In terms of software, Fortnite once again topped the US charts for active players, followed by Call of Duty, despite ongoing controversies surrounding Black Ops 7. Notably, Black Ops 7 was the best-selling PS5 game on the PlayStation Store in November.
On Steam, however, the situation looks quite different. ARC Raiders leads the platform, followed by Battlefield 6. Interestingly, Black Ops 7 did not even make it into Steam’s top 15 titles.
