Sony has released a new surprise update for the PS5, which doesn’t introduce major changes to the console, but it does include a new animated theme to use in the Welcome Hub, the initial hub of the interface.
A batch of dynamic themes for this section of the console was already released last April, but this time, it’s a single addition, arriving after a small update that was quietly launched by the company.
A New Animated Theme for the Welcome Hub
This update includes a theme dedicated to Monster Hunter Wilds, featuring high-resolution graphics and animations that bring life to the background image used in the PS5 interface within the Welcome Hub.
Given the popularity of the game, Sony’s choice of this theme for the new background is understandable, and it’s likely that many players will activate this option.
How to Set the New Dynamic Theme
If you like the theme, you can set it by following the usual procedure: go to the Welcome Hub, then select the customization options, choose edit background, and pick your preferred theme, in this case, the Monster Hunter Wilds one.
Sony has been quite active in introducing new dynamic themes for the PS5, but the downside is that they are very limited in terms of customization. These themes are only visible in the Welcome Hub, rather than affecting the entire console interface.
Additionally, it’s also possible to create your own fixed theme using a screenshot captured from a game, but in that case, the image won’t be animated.
