Radeon RX 7900 GRE Officially Launches And Won’t Be China Exclusive

The recently spotted Radeon RX 7900 GRE has officially been announced at China Joy in Shanghai with full specs and confirmation of a global release.

Radeon RX 7900 GRE $649 July 28th

As reported by WCCFtech, the AMD Radeon RX 7900 Golden Rabbit Edition has officially been revealed with a July 28th launch date alongside a $649 price tag. This new card is effectively a cut-down RX 7900 XT and does offer reduced specs as to what was previously expected from this card. We already knew of the cut-down VRAM from 20GB to 16GB but we now also know that the memory bus has been cut to 256 bit. The GPU itself has also been cut down from 5376 cores to 5120 as well as 4 fewer CUs at 80. The infinity cache also has been dropped down to 64MB from 80MB. All of these cuts have allowed for a reduced TDP from 315W down to 260W. Expreview has shared some benchmarks comparing this to the the RTX 4070 which it appears to beat for an additional $50 over the $599 MSRP of the 4070.

3 AIBs With Global Launch

Despite the previous speculation of a China-only launch which paired up well with the mostly Chinese marketing, this card has been said to have a global launch through three AIB partners including PowerColor, Sapphire and XFX. How well this card will sell is anyone’s guess, but with the general consumer choice always being NVIDIA, I can easily see the RTX 4070 still holding against this card. With the $649 price tag we can also get a closer estimate of where AMD will price the 7800XT and 7700XT which will be between $649 and $269. I’ll throw in my bets of $549 for the 7800XT and $399 for the 7700XT.

What do you think of this Card, will it catch much attention? Let us know your thoughts in the comments.
