Good deals always appear from time to time, and this time it is the Radeon RX 9070 GRE, which has received a major price cut that brings it below $500 for the first time.
The graphics card market is currently going through a difficult period because of the DRAM memory price crisis. As a result, most graphics cards are selling for around 15% to 20% above their recommended retail price (MSRP). However, the Radeon RX 9070 GRE does not seem to be affected as much.
The RX 9070 GRE launched last month with an official price of $549. It was heavily criticized at launch because it cost the same as the standard RX 9070, despite having 4 GB less VRAM, with 12 GB in total, and a much lower shader count. This resulted in lower performance and a poor launch, with major European retailers such as Mindfactory reportedly not selling a single unit on the first day.
Radeon RX 9070 GRE Gets $50 Discount
The situation has now changed thanks to a special offer from the US retailer Newegg (thanks Wccftech). The GIGABYTE Gaming Radeon RX 9070 GRE 12 GB, normally listed at $549.99, is currently available with a $50 promotional discount code after registering an email address, bringing the final price down to $499.
At this new price, the RX 9070 GRE becomes a much more competitive option in the graphics card market. However, this is currently a limited-time promotion, and there are no signs that AMD plans to officially reduce the MSRP of the card.
Considering that competing models such as the GeForce RTX 5060 Ti 16 GB are selling for more than $500, while higher-end cards like the RTX 5070 and the standard Radeon RX 9070 remain above $600, the new $499 price makes the RX 9070 GRE a much more attractive choice.
