Razer announced a refresh of the extremely popular and highly revered Mamba gaming mouse during E3 last month. This device utilizes a gigantic 16,000 DPI sensor and sports two variants; a wireless and wired edition. The wireless version features Razer’s in-house Adjustable Click Force Technology which allows the end-user to manually alter the pressure required to actuate the left and right mouse buttons. In contrast to this, the wired or “Tournament Edition” mouse opts for a standard clicking motion despite being targeted at professional eSport players. However, the Tournament Edition’s retail price is $90 while the wireless model will cost a staggering $150.
Each version of the Mamba contains Razer’s RGB Chroma lighting system to create an ostentatious look. Razer is so confident about the Tournament Edition’s widespread appeal that they have opened pre-orders, despite targeting a release in mid-August. Please note, pre-orders have a very limited window between July 23 until July 31st. While the Tournament Edition is the budget variant, I doubt many consumers will be overly concerned about the lack of Razer’s adjustable switches. It does seem strange though giving the wireless option a better switch type as it’s more susceptible to latency.
Would you recommend Razer peripherals to a friend or loved one? Will you be getting the new Mamba?
