Razer Unveils the Huntsman Signature Edition Keyboard

Razer has always been a big name for PC gaming, having established a pretty loyal fan base over the years, and their latest announcement looks set to give them back some of their reputation for high-end quality, which admittedly, has been a bit up and down in recent years. The new Razer Huntsman Signature Edition isn’t just another mechanical keyboard; it is a flagship centerpiece designed to showcase their current engineering prowess. While we are used to seeing plastic or standard aluminium frames, Razer has opted for a CNC-milled 6063 anodised aluminium chassis here. To add a bit of flair usually reserved for high-end watchmaking, the keyboard features PVD (Physical Vapor Deposition) accents that are hand-polished to a mirror sheen. It is a heavy-duty, meticulously finished bit of kit that includes a mirror-polished metallic triple-headed snake keycap to round out the aesthetic… like it said, this really is focused on something pretty flagship and premium, and as you might expect, its price reflects this.

Technical Specifications and Features

Under the hood, it is packed with Razer’s top-tier tech. You get the Gen-2 Analog Optical Switches, which allow for adjustable actuation points, and the now-essential Rapid Trigger Mode for those playing competitive shooters. It also boasts a true 8,000 Hz polling rate, ensuring that latency is kept to an absolute minimum.

  • Chassis: CNC-milled 6063 anodised aluminium frame.
  • Switches: Razer Analog Optical Switches Gen-2.
  • Polling Rate: True 8,000 Hz HyperPolling technology.
  • Keycaps: Textured doubleshot PBT, plus a signature mirror-polished metallic snake keycap.
  • Actuation: Rapid Trigger Mode for near-instant resets and dynamic actuation height.
  • Acoustics: Internal layered structure with tuned foams and sound-dampening materials.
  • Finish: Hand-polished PVD accents.
  • Warranty: 5-year manufacturer warranty.

The internal construction seems to be a major focus for Razer this time around, opting for a purpose-built acoustic design, using a layered system of tuned foams and dampening materials, the keyboard is designed to provide a rounded typing profile that matches the premium feel of the external metalwork.

“With the Huntsman Signature Edition, we wanted to show what happens when Razer’s industry-leading and bespoke Analog-Optical technology is built into a precision-crafted gaming keyboard,” said Barrie Ooi, Head of Razer’s PC Gaming Division. “It draws on years of Razer R&D in developing high-performance keyboards with low-latency, industry-leading reliability, and acoustics. Pushing beyond a typical gaming keyboard, delivering tournament-grade speed in a design that feels like a collector’s piece on the desk.”

What we think

It is clear Razer is targeting the enthusiast custom keyboard market with this release. By combining their high-speed optical switches, which are genuinely excellent for gaming, with premium materials like CNC aluminium and PVD coatings, they’re blending gaming peripherals with a luxury desk accessory. The inclusion of a 5-year warranty is a nice touch too, especially on something that’s trying new things. Plus, it suggesting they expect this to be a long-term fixture on a user’s desk rather than something you swap out every year or two.

Where to buy

With a price tag of around $499, this certainly isn’t for everyone, but for those who want the “best of the best” in a serialized, limited-run form factor, it’s certainly got our attention. The Razer Huntsman Signature Edition is only available directly from Razer, so check out the product page for more information.
