Report: Starfield PS5 Announcement Won’t Happen in 2025
There will be no announcements about the PlayStation 5 version of Starfield during 2025. This report comes from Insider Gaming, led by Tom Henderson, a well-known and reliable source for gaming leaks. According to Henderson, updates might arrive in 2026, though no specific date was mentioned.
Rumors about a PS5 version of Starfield have been circulating for years, along with talk of a possible release on the Nintendo Switch 2. While a 2026 release is still possible based on earlier reports, sources now say there will be no announcements during the remaining months of 2025.
When Could the Announcement Happen?
If an announcement does happen, it’s expected sometime next year. The rumor was first shared by another insider, NateTheHate, who responded to fans on X (formerly Twitter), saying: “[I] believe the announcement will be in 2026 unless plans change.”
Earlier, NateTheHate had claimed that a PS5 version of Starfield was certain, expecting it to be revealed in 2025. However, it seems Microsoft’s plans have changed — possibly due to the addition of a Nintendo Switch 2 version.
What Microsoft Has Said About It
A report from early this year suggested that Starfield and its upcoming expansion, Terran Armada, could launch on PS5 by spring 2026. Microsoft has never denied the possibility of a PS5 version.
When Phil Spencer was asked about it, he said: “There is no reason for me to put a ring fence around any game and say this game will not go to a place that it would find players, where it would have business success for us.”
Given Xbox’s recent multi-platform strategy, many believe it’s no longer a question of if Starfield will come to PS5 — but when.
