Resident Evil Requiem Has the Highest User Score Ever on Metacritic
Resident Evil Requiem is receiving extremely high ratings from users on Metacritic. At the moment, it is not only the most appreciated chapter in the series, but also the game with the highest user average ever recorded on the platform. It has even surpassed major titles like The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt and Metal Gear Solid.
Requiem currently leads the ranking with a User Score of 9.5. It shares the same score as Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, which is in second place, likely due to a very small difference in decimal points. In third place is Metal Gear Solid with a score of 9.3, alongside Silent Hill 2, Metal Gear Solid 3, and Disney Cory in the House for Nintendo DS. The presence of the latter is often seen as a special case, showing how user scores can sometimes reflect popularity and internet memes, not just overall quality.
Comparison With Other Resident Evil Games
Looking at other games in Capcom’s series, the original Resident Evil 4 from 2005 has a User Score of 9.1. The 2023 remake follows with 8.9. The remake of the first Resident Evil for GameCube also has an 8.9 score, while the Resident Evil 2 remake stands at 8.8.
This makes Requiem the highest-rated title in the franchise based on user reviews.
When it comes to critics’ reviews, Resident Evil Requiem has a score of 88. This is a strong result, but still lower than some of the series’ biggest highlights. The original Resident Evil 4 holds a score of 96, while its remake has 93. The Resident Evil 2 remake sits at 91.
However, Requiem’s critic score is higher than Resident Evil 7 (86) and Resident Evil Village (84).
In other news, Resident Evil Requiem could receive a story DLC starring Alyssa Ashcroft.
