Resident Evil Requiem Now Playable in VR Thanks to New Mod
A modding community has released a new mod called RE9VR, which allows players to experience Resident Evil Requiem in virtual reality.
This mod is not official. It forces the game into a first-person view and adds support for motion controls. According to the creator, it works with VR headsets compatible with OpenVR and OpenXR.
Resident Evil Requiem VR Mod Is Now Available
The mod includes 6DOF motion controls, allowing players to use movement in a more natural way. It also adds a system for using Leon’s axe, letting players “cut” with it in a more immersive way. The motorcycle sections can also be played in first person when possible, and the mod includes several customization options to improve the overall experience.
The mod is not perfect, but it works. The creator recommends adjusting some settings to get better results. For graphics, it is suggested to disable screen space reflections, lens distortion, depth of field, and upscaling.
Due to its popularity, the mod has already received an additional update in the form of another mod called RE9VR Immersion Enhancer. This add-on improves weapon controls, adds faster healing, and introduces new gestures, such as sliding to sharpen the axe, along with other motion-based actions.
Like many mods of this type, it can have an impact on performance. Because of this, it may increase the system requirements needed to run the game smoothly.
In other news, Resident Evil Requiem DLC could bring back Ada Wong, based on new leaks from a reliable insider.
