Retailer Sells Delidded Ryzen 7 9850X3D With Full Two-Year Warranty
Thermal Grizzly, the well-known German company led by overclocker der8auer, has started selling the AMD Ryzen 7 9850X3D processor after a professional delidding process.
Delidding means removing the IHS to expose the chip directly. This allows better heat transfer to the cooler. In most cases, this process voids the manufacturer’s warranty.
Better Cooling Without Losing Warranty
The big news is not only the delidding itself, but that Thermal Grizzly offers a two-year warranty on the processor. This removes the main fear for enthusiasts, which is damaging an expensive CPU during the delidding process.
Each unit is carefully tested before shipping. As proof of quality, buyers receive a USB drive that includes a detailed test report, screenshots of thermal performance, and a microscopic photo of the chip.
The “delidded” Ryzen 7 9850X3D is listed at around 749 euros (approx $875). This is a noticeable increase compared to the standard model, which costs around $500.
However, for users who want Direct-Die cooling setups, where the water block touches the silicon directly, this product can be very attractive. By reducing the thermal resistance caused by the original IHS, the processor can keep higher clock speeds in a stable way.
