Retailers Warn of Possible Price Hikes for Radeon RX 9070 and 9070 XT After Launch; AMD Responds
There is growing concern about the pricing of AMD’s new Radeon RX 9070 and RX 9070 XT graphics cards. Some retailers claim that the prices currently being shared only apply to the initial stock, suggesting that prices may increase soon after launch.
According to the Swedish retailer Inet.se (thanks VideoCardz), the MSRP (Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price) set by AMD will only apply to the first batch of graphics cards—those already in stock and ready to hit the market. However, later shipments could have different pricing, and it’s likely that at least for a while, prices will rise before stabilizing based on sales performance.
Retailers Report Planned Price Hikes, AMD Partially Denies
Inet provided an example with PowerColor’s Reaper model, which will launch at the advertised price only for the first shipment. However, the second batch of these GPUs already shows a price increase.
This means the listed prices for AMD Radeon RX 9070 and RX 9070 XT will hold only for the initial stock. After that, price changes will depend on market demand. Other retailers, such as Overclockers UK, also believe that prices will likely increase after launch.
When asked by The Verge, AMD confirmed that the listed prices are official, seemingly denying an immediate increase. However, their response seems to apply only to base models, while higher-end versions may still see price differences.
