Roblox Has More Active Players Than Steam, PlayStation, and Fortnite Combined

Roblox

According to the report “The State of Video Gaming in 2026” by analyst Matthew Ball, Roblox currently has more active players than Steam, PlayStation, and Fortnite combined. On its own, the platform accounted for 67% of the video game industry’s growth in 2025.

By the end of 2024, Roblox’s daily active users had already surpassed those of consoles. During the past year, those numbers grew by another 69%, marking growth three times higher than the first year of the pandemic boom. Roblox also captured 4.5% of global consumer spending, excluding China.

Even more impressive are the monthly engagement hours. In the third quarter of 2025 alone, Roblox recorded more than 13 billion hours of gameplay, surpassing the total engagement the platform achieved during all of 2020.

On a monthly basis last year, the average was just over 10 billion hours. For comparison, Steam reached around 5 billion hours, PlayStation consoles about 4.25 billion, and Fortnite under 1 billion. Roblox alone equals the total of all three combined.

Netflix Is Now in Roblox’s Sights

Netflix may now be the next target. In 2025, the streaming platform recorded between 15 and 16 billion monthly hours, while Roblox reached 65% of that figure on a yearly basis and even 82% in the third quarter.

The key difference is growth. While Netflix is expanding slowly, with about 1% annual growth, Roblox is still in a strong expansion phase. Because of this, overtaking Netflix no longer seems unrealistic.

Mobile engagement data is also important. Out of the 13 billion hours recorded in the third quarter of 2025, 11.5 billion came from smartphones and tablets, while only 2.5 billion came from PC and consoles.

This comparison once again highlights the strength and potential of mobile gaming, which continues to be a major driver of Roblox’s success.

In related news, Roblox has more registered accounts than people on Earth. With 8.2 billion users, the platform sets a new record.
