Roccat Burst Pro Lightweight Gaming Mouse Review

How Much Does it Cost?

Despite having a nice array of premium features, the Roccat Burst Pro is surprisingly affordable. Priced at just £49.99 it’s within the reach of most enthusiast gamers, and even comes in a choice of black or white finishes. The price is similar to the Endgame Gear XM1, the Cooler Master MM710, and the SteelSeries Aerox 3, but it has them all beat for features. The only thing that looks like it comes close is the Razer Viper, which I haven’t tested myself, but while closely matched for specifications, it’s certainly not as pretty as the Burst.

Overview

Roccat has made many of my favourite gaming mice over the years. The Kone, the Kone XTD, the Kone AIMO, the Kova, and my personal daily mouse the Tyon… to name but a few. I’m happy to put the Burst Pro on that list too. It’s easily the most focused and competitive mouse they’ve made in a long time. eSports is as big as ever, but even us at-home locked down gamers still want every performance edge we can get, and this mouse can give you just that.

Performance

Now I’m not a competitive gamer, I’m a lazy trader in ESO that flips mats and talks crap with my guild members. So while the Burst isn’t giving me the edge in processing ore and farming Motifs from daily quests, it’s still a very nice mouse to use. It just feels effortless to move around your desk and it’s got silky smooth tracking you’ll appreciate even if you’re just putting numbers into a spreadsheet.

Build Quality

Everything feels premium on this mouse, with their awesome Titan Switches, the Owl-Eye sensor, that lovely cable braiding, fantastic RGB hardware, a durable mouse body, heat-treated PTFE pads, etc. It’s all good stuff and it adds up to a really great mouse.

Should I Buy One?

I’ll make this wonderfully simple for you. Are you looking for a quality gaming mouse that’s as good at scrolling Facebook during lockdown as it will be bringing you first place at a LAN tournament post-lockdown? Got 50 quid in your pocket? Get this mouse. It’s absolutely fantastic.

As a child still in my 30's (but not for long), I spend my day combining my love of music and movies with a life-long passion for gaming, from arcade classics and retro consoles to the latest high-end PC and console games. So it's no wonder I write about tech and test the latest hardware while I enjoy my hobbies!
