Roccat KAIN 120 AIMO Gaming Mouse Review

How Much Does it Cost?

At just £59.99, the Roccat Kain 120 AIMO RGB Gaming Mouse is exceptional value for money. It’s got the performance to be appealing to even the most extreme end of the eSports market. It has the precision to please professionals and editors. It has the build quality, comfort, and style to please everyone. Plus, as much as I love it, the Kain 122 AIMO RGB is the white model for the same price, and it looks even better!

Overview

There’s no point beating around the bush here. If you’ve read this whole review. Hello to those who skip to the last page by the way. You know I’ve nothing bad to say about it. It’s really one of the best all-around products I’ve tested here at eTeknix. Is it the best mouse on the market today? Well, that’s just so subjective that even I can’t say yes, and I’ve tested hundreds of the darn things. There are fantastic products from all the top brands, but when it comes down to it, the Roccat Kain 120 AIMO (and the 122 AIMO) would compete with anything else on the market easily enough.

Specifications

Yes, we’ve covered those already. However, let’s look at what you’re paying for here. At £60 you get Roccats flagship 16k DPI Owl-Eye optical sensor. Honestly, if there’s a better optical sensor on the market, I haven’t seen it. It’s bloody perfect, and that’s that. The “Titan Click Technology” which in all fairness is a bit of marketing bumf as far as naming goes. The reality is a very nice “click” though, and the use of premium Omron switches that help elevate that further. Honestly, it’s a great click. The AIMO lighting tech, the braided cable, the little touch of brushed metal on the top. It all adds up to a great value product in my opinion.

Build Quality

This is what pushes the AIMO over the edge compared to a lot of rivals though. Not that Roccat, Logitech, Razer, Cooler Master, etc, don’t make their products well, because they certainly do. However, there’s a certain quality here that just feels better than most. Not by much, but it’s there, and you feel it the moment you set eyes on it, and again when you start using it. Roccat did a lot of little things here, and they add up.
