Roccat Kone EMP Gaming Mouse Review

A Closer Look

As I said before, the EMP has an almost identical design to the original Kone. While a fully new design would be cool, I’m actually happy to see it looks like the original as it’s long been one of my favourite gaming mice and I’m sure it’s many other people’s too. Down the left-hand side, you’ll see it still has the same to control switches, as well as a deep economic curve for your thumb

Between the left side panel and the top of the mouse, there is a glossy plastic strip, behind this you will find the range of RGB LED lights which can be customised to your liking, which will see you in action shortly.

Down the right-hand side, more ergonomic curves let you get a better grip on the mouse. There is a hard wearing rubber grip coating on both the left and right sides of the mouse. This is going to make it easier to use a fingertip or claw grip on the mouse, and prevent it slipping away from your fingers while gaming.

Titan Wheel

The mouse uses the Roccat 4D Titan Wheel for the scroll wheel. It features a durable design, rubber grip coating for added control, and can be both clicked and toggled left to right. Tucked behind the scroll wheel you’ll find a plus and minus button which by default after adjusting the DPI level. However, the mouse is fully programmable and you can change the assignment of these switches.

The mouse features an ergonomic design for right-hand use. As you can see, the mouse sweeps off heavily on the right-hand side giving you a more natural wrist resting position while in use which will aid with long-term comfort.

Owl-Eye Sensor

On the base of the mouse, you find two Teflon slipmats, which give the mouse extra glide on both hard and soft a gaming surfaces. Also, located in the centre you will find the new Roccat Owl-Eye 12000 DPI optical sensor.

Overall, the design has remained mostly unchanged but is still one of the best-looking gaming mice on the market today. As we said before the main changes are to the overall weight of the mouse which is now down to 116 grams and the new optical sensor for improved performance.

As a child still in my 30's (but not for long), I spend my day combining my love of music and movies with a life-long passion for gaming, from arcade classics and retro consoles to the latest high-end PC and console games. So it's no wonder I write about tech and test the latest hardware while I enjoy my hobbies!
