Roccat Kova Optical Ambidextrous Gaming Mouse Review

Final Thoughts

Price

The Roccat Kova is available from most major online and high-street retailers, with prices in the region of £50. I have seen some deals going around though, with prices dropping as low at £38, so be sure to shop around for the best price. Currently, it’s available from CCL Computers for £49.98, putting it alongside pro gaming mice from Zowie, SteelSeries and Razer, to name but a few.

Overview

The Roccat Kova is certainly unique in terms of design, it’s still immediately recognisable as a Roccat gaming mouse, but it’s also unlike their usual designs and that’s no bad thing. While the design is unique, it’s more a byproduct of functionality, rather than just making something that looks a little crazy. The ambidextrous design makes it well suited to a wide range of gamers, but also provides a setup with extra buttons that can be reprogrammed to suit your needs, regardless of which hand you use to hold it.

The addition of a second set of top switches to the edges of the LMB and RMB are nice too. They’re just out of the way enough that you won’t be hitting them by accident, but for having a few extra macros at your fingertips, they’re perfectly placed for ease of use. The software certainly makes the setup a joy too, it’s very easy to get in and customise all your macros, button configurations, lighting and sensor settings, then save them directly to the mouse over multiple profiles.

The sensor performance was absolutely flawless, which is going to be very beneficial to those who play games competitively, or even just those who need a mouse with good precision in their daily work. For the same money, you can find other gaming mice with flawless optical sensors, but then again, those mice likely won’t have all the extra features you find on the Kova, making this a great value product overall.

Pros

  • Durable build quality
  • Unique aesthetics
  • Flawless sensor
  • RGB lighting
  • Comprehensive software
  • Ambidextrous design
  • Braided cable
  • Onboard memory

Cons

  • None

“If you’re looking for a quality mouse for competitive gaming, the Roccat Kova has everything you need. Flawless performance, great build quality and for a price that will be giving their competition a good run for their money. Highly recommended!”

Thank you Roccat for providing us with this sample.
