Rockstar Games Grants Terminally Ill Fan’s Wish to Play GTA 6 Early
It seems Rockstar Games has decided to fulfill the wish of a terminally ill Grand Theft Auto fan by allowing him to play GTA 6 before its official release.
The story began when a game developer, who is also a relative of the fan, reached out online asking if anyone had contacts at Rockstar Games or Rockstar Toronto. In his message, he explained that his family member has been battling cancer for years and has now been told he only has six to twelve months left to live.
The relative shared that the man is a lifelong GTA fan who lives close to Rockstar’s Oakville studio in Canada. His simple wish was to experience GTA 6 — even an unfinished version — while he still can.
Rockstar’s Kind Response
Although the details of how the conversation unfolded are unknown, it appears Rockstar responded positively. The developer later posted an update saying: “We spoke to them today and got great news. That’s all I can really say, but thank you all from the bottom of my heart.”
This statement strongly suggests that Rockstar agreed to grant the fan’s request in some way. It’s likely the process is being handled privately, considering how secretive the development of GTA 6 remains and how significant the project is for the company.
This isn’t the first time Rockstar has shown compassion toward fans facing difficult circumstances. A similar case occurred back in 2018 when the company allowed another terminally ill fan to play Red Dead Redemption 2 before its official release.
