ROG Xbox Ally X Price Increases by Nearly $200 in Japan
The price of the ROG Xbox Ally X has increased in Japan: the more powerful version of ASUS’s handheld has gone from 139,800 yen to 169,800 yen, meaning a price hike of 30,000 yen, which equals almost 200 dollars.
A Nightmare Situation
It is not clear why the price has been adjusted only for the higher-end model, considering that the ROG Xbox Ally is still available at 89,800 yen, but there is a real possibility that the issue is linked to memory costs. We know that the ROG Xbox Ally X comes with more RAM — 24 GB compared to 16 GB in the base version — as well as a larger SSD, 1 TB instead of 500 GB.
For now, the price increase has happened only in Japan, but if the reasons are indeed what we expect — namely the impact of higher memory costs — nothing rules out a price rise in Western markets as well.
As is now clear to everyone, memory prices have gone out of control and are causing serious problems for users, especially on PC, but no electronic device can be considered safe.
There are even rumors that the PS6 could be delayed until 2029, while the Switch 2 may face a price increase as well. This possibility has created strong uncertainty, including in the stock market.
