RPCS3 Emulator Reaches Major Milestone, 70% of PS3 Games Now Fully Playable
RPCS3, the most advanced PlayStation 3 emulator for PC, has announced a major milestone — over 70% of the console’s game catalog is now fully playable.
This marks a significant achievement in the world of emulation. The PS3 has long been known as one of the most challenging consoles to emulate due to its complex Cell architecture, which was once considered nearly impossible to replicate accurately.
According to the latest compatibility reports, the exact figure stands at 70.55%. This means that seven out of every ten PS3 games can now run from start to finish with optimal performance and no game-breaking errors. Just a few years ago, this percentage was below 50%, showing the steady and dedicated progress of the RPCS3 development team.
Expansion and New Features
Of the remaining catalog, 26.59% of titles are classified as “InGame,” meaning they can launch and play but still show graphical or performance issues that affect the experience. Less than 3% reach only the intro sequence, and an extremely small fraction — under 0.1% — still cannot boot at all.
Beyond game compatibility, RPCS3 has been expanding its technical reach. The emulator no longer only supports x64 architectures on Windows and Linux — it has now added support for Windows-on-Arm64, opening the door to a new generation of portable devices and ARM-based computers.
The integration of AVX-512 instruction support has also pushed performance even further, allowing demanding titles to achieve impressive results on modern CPUs.
With new abilities such as loading games directly from ISO files and ever-improving stability, RPCS3 continues to breathe new life into PlayStation 3 classics, ensuring they remain accessible to gamers for years to come.
