RTX 5050 Hits 3.4 GHz After Extreme Overclock, Becoming the Fastest GB207 GPU
The hardware modder known as Trashbench has set a new world record for overclocking with the RTX 5050. He managed to push a Gigabyte RTX 5050 GPU to sustained speeds of 3,468 MHz, representing a 23 % increase over its standard clock of 2,820 MHz.
Overclocking Setup and Methods
Trashbench achieved the overclock by performing a shunt-mod on the card to bypass its software power limits. He used a portable camping freezer from Techni-Ice, together with a 60/40 glycol mixture, to keep the GPU temperatures between -12 °C and 15 °C depending on workload. This extreme cooling was essential for maintaining stability at such high frequencies.
The result of all this was the breaking of several world records in the 3DMark benchmarks, making the modded RTX 5050 one of the fastest GB207 GPUs ever tested
The RTX 5050 is an entry-level GPU of the RTX 50 series, and yet this experiment shows it has significant overclocking potential thanks to its GB207 (Blackwell) GPU architecture. By reaching these clocks and claiming top benchmark results (for this model), it stands as probably the fastest GB207 GPU in existence
In other news, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 50 SUPER GPU series may face cancellation or significant delay due to a shortage of 3GB GDDR7 memory modules, which are reportedly being prioritized for NVIDIA’s AI and data center products
