RTX 5050 Transformed into RTX 5050 “Ti” Breaks World Records
In a pure act of ingenuity, the modder known as TrashBench managed to boost the performance of a GeForce RTX 5050 by practically turning it into an RTX 5050 “Ti”.
How the RTX 5050 Was Modified
The experiment combined physical modifications with firmware tweaks, producing surprising results: the user broke multiple world records in synthetic benchmarks.
The process began with a cooling system swap. TrashBench replaced the original cooler of the RTX 5050 with that of the larger RTX 5060. To fit the new heatsink onto the board, he even drilled holes and made some “DIY” adjustments. Additional fans were installed to improve airflow. Then, using the NVFLASH tool, he rewrote the BIOS of the card to unlock higher power limits and allow greater clock speeds.
As a result, the modified GPU reached 3.3 GHz, about 500 MHz more than the stock version, while the power limit rose from 120 W to 140 W. Thanks to the improved cooler, temperatures dropped significantly—running at 40°C under load compared to 70°C on the original model.
Record-Breaking Performance
When it came to performance, the “RTX 5050 Ti” achieved a 16% boost compared to the standard model, reducing the gap with the RTX 5060, which was originally 33% faster.
In benchmarks such as 3DMark Time Spy, it scored 11,715 points. In Steel Nomad it reached 2,703 points, becoming the world leader, and in Port Royal it broke the 7,000-point barrier, the first user to ever do so.
However, there are some warnings. All these modifications void the manufacturer’s warranty. Despite the achievement, the RTX 5050 remains the most modest option in the RTX 50 series. Many experts believe it is safer and more practical to spend a little more and buy an RTX 5060, which already offers superior performance without risky experiments.
This feat by TrashBench is another example of the community’s boldness in pushing their graphics cards to the limit.
