The latest Steam Hardware Survey for September shows that there is a new king among GPUs: the GeForce RTX 5070.
The most notable change we are seeing among Steam players is that the Nvidia GeForce RTX 5070 has officially become the most used GPU, overtaking previous generations with a market share of 6.15%, after seeing monthly growth of +2.38%.
RTX 5070 Takes the Top Spot on Steam as Nvidia’s RTX 50 Series Surges
The jump in adoption of the Blackwell architecture is not limited to this model. Other graphics cards from the same family also recorded increases, such as the RTX 5060 Ti, which climbed to 4.06%, and the RTX 5060, which reached a 4.40% share. This marks a strong presence for the RTX 50 series in the mid-range, which seems to be convincing players over AMD alternatives.
Along with the change in graphics cards, system RAM has also reached another record. The 32 GB configuration surpassed 16 GB for the first time as the preferred option among players. Systems with 32 GB rose to a 42.22% share, an increase of 4.77%, while systems with 16 GB dropped to 37.82%, making it clear that modern games increasingly require more room in main memory, and players are recognizing this.
Finally, there are also changes when it comes to displays and processors. Although 1080p (Full HD) resolution remains dominant with a 47.91% share, it fell below the 50% mark, driven by the growth of 1440p (2K), which now represents 27.04%.
In the processor category under Windows, AMD continues to gain ground against Intel, reaching a 47.41% share compared with 52.59% for its competitor.
