RTX 5080 SUPER Will Retain the Same CUDA Cores as the RTX 5080, But Boost to 24GB GDDR7 and a 415W TDP
Just hours after the possible leak of the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070 SUPER and RTX 5070 TI SUPER, it’s now time for the RTX 5080 SUPER to take the spotlight. This supposed variant of NVIDIA’s current RTX 5080 is expected to be released in a few months, continuing the tradition of NVIDIA’s recent GPU releases.
New Specifications
According to the latest leaks and rumors, the RTX 5080 SUPER will feature 24 GB of GDDR7 RAM, a specification we had anticipated for some time. This was suggested by earlier leaks of variants with this amount of memory and the availability of Samsung’s new 3 GB GDDR7 memory chips. These chips will allow the card to achieve this memory size.
The RTX 5080 SUPER will not use a superior GPU with more CUDA Cores. Instead, it will continue using the GB203 chip from the standard RTX 5080, which has 10,752 CUDA Cores. The key update here is the 24 GB of GDDR7 memory, with a 256-bit data bus, running at a speed of 32 Gbps. This will allow the GPU to achieve a TDP of 415 W, a significant increase from the current 360 W of the RTX 5080.
While there won’t be an increase in CUDA Cores, the RTX 5080 SUPER could still achieve higher clock speeds due to its larger power budget. This may provide an edge over the standard RTX 5080.
Previously, in models like the RTX 4080 and RTX 4080 SUPER, there was an increase in the number of CUDA Cores, from 9,728 to 10,240. However, in the case of the RTX 5080 SUPER, NVIDIA seems to be reusing the same GPU as the RTX 5080 and simply adding more memory to create this new variant.
