Rumor: Red Dead Redemption 2 Coming to Switch 2 With Enhanced Versions for PS5 and Xbox Series X/S
According to new reports from sources close to Rockstar Games, Red Dead Redemption 2 is being developed for the Switch 2, Nintendo’s upcoming console, which is set to release on June 5. The news was confirmed by Gamereactor and Nintendúo, two websites that claim they received confirmation from reliable sources about the open-world western game coming to the new platform. Along with the Switch 2 version, the game will also be released on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S.
Red Dead Redemption 2
Originally released on PS4 and Xbox One in October 2018 and later coming to PC, Red Dead Redemption 2 is widely considered one of the greatest video games of all time. The game has sold a total of 74 million copies, and with the upcoming releases on Switch 2, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S, these numbers are expected to grow significantly. This will give a fresh boost to a game that continues to perform well even six and a half years after its release.
It’s unclear whether the upgrade for PS5 and Xbox Series X/S owners will be free, but Gamereactor reports that a new version of the game will feature significant graphical improvements and support for 60 frames per second.
In a recent interview with The Game Business, the CEO of Take-Two Interactive, the parent company of Rockstar Games, shared that they plan to support the launch of Switch 2 more significantly than previous consoles. In addition to Red Dead Redemption 2, Sid Meier’s Civilization VII, Borderlands 4, WWE 2K, and NBA 2K will be released for Switch 2 in 2025.
