Ryzen 7 9850X3D Appears on PassMark; 4.7% Better Performance Than 9800X3D

Recent leaks have shed light on the upcoming Ryzen 7 9850X3D. The first performance results on PassMark have been revealed, giving us a glimpse of what this CPU can deliver.

Ryzen 7 9850X3D: +4.7% Performance Over the 9800X3D

According to information leaked by X86 is dead&back (thanks OC3D), the 9850X3D is expected to be a direct evolution of the popular Ryzen 7 9800X3D, one of AMD’s most successful processors among gamers.

The official launch of this CPU is expected to take place at CES 2026. Expectations are high since AMD’s 3D V-Cache technology has proven to be exceptionally efficient for gaming. The numbers are clear: the Ryzen 7 9850X3D shows a 4.7% performance gain in both single-core and multi-core tests compared to the 9800X3D.

What Causes This Increase?

The main factor seems to be an improvement in clock speeds. Rumors suggest that the 9850X3D will feature a boost clock of 5.6 GHz, about 400 MHz higher than the Ryzen 7 9800X3D. These higher speeds appear to be delivering on their promise of improved CPU performance. This boost will be crucial in gaming scenarios where performance is limited by CPU capacity.

While experts note that the performance jump is smaller than that seen with earlier 3D V-Cache models, the 9850X3D still looks like an appealing upgrade for users coming from older or mid-range AM5 CPUs.

The Ryzen 7 9850X3D aims not only to maintain AMD’s dominance in the high-end gaming sector, but also to offer a clear and tempting upgrade path for a broad base of users. Meanwhile, attention is also turning to a potential Ryzen 9 9950X3D, although the lack of solid information or benchmarks makes this model more speculative for now.
