Ryzen 7 9850X3D Will Go on Sale January 29
A recent leak has confirmed that AMD’s Ryzen 7 9850X3D processor will officially launch on January 29, 2026. There will be no pre-order phase, meaning availability will be limited to existing stock — whoever gets there first will be the one to secure this highly anticipated CPU.
The leak, which comes directly from AMD’s review kit documentation (thanks VideoCardz), also reveals that the review embargo will lift on January 28, 2026, just one day before the official release. This aligns with AMD’s strategy of keeping reviews tightly timed with product launches to build excitement.
A Highlight of CES 2026
The Ryzen 7 9850X3D was one of the main highlights of CES 2026. During the event, AMD showcased the processor in several ways, even displaying it without its IHS (integrated heat spreader) so viewers could see the CPU and I/O chiplets directly.
Although pricing information hasn’t been leaked, it’s expected that the 9850X3D will be more expensive than its predecessor, the Ryzen 7 9800X3D. The only major difference between the two is that the new model reaches 400 MHz higher peak speeds, hitting up to 5.6 GHz.
The Ryzen 7 9800X3D debuted at a recommended price of $479. Given the improved clock speeds, the 9850X3D will likely launch at a higher price point, though the exact amount remains uncertain.
Logically, for it to stay competitive and make sense within the lineup, its price should land between $500 and $550. Even at that range, it would already be considered expensive. The performance difference between the 9800X3D and 9850X3D is expected to be minimal, especially in gaming, making such a price gap difficult to justify.
