Sales of Refurbished PCs Surge Across Europe Amid Rising Hardware Prices

The DRAM crisis has pushed up the prices of key components such as RAM and graphics memory. As a result, the cost of producing DDR4 and DDR5 memory kits, graphics cards, and many other devices that use these components has increased.

Because of these higher prices, sales of refurbished laptops and desktop PCs are rising across Europe. However, this trend could lead to an unwanted effect: prices of refurbished systems may also increase due to growing demand.

Rising Component Prices Drive Demand for Refurbished PCs

This situation has already affected the second-hand component market. RAM modules are being sold at higher prices, and the same is happening with graphics cards. The used market usually reacts to changes in the new product market, adjusting to price increases over time.

It is likely that refurbished PCs and laptops will also become more expensive as demand continues to grow. When more people look for affordable options, sellers often raise prices in response.

According to the firm Context (thanks TechSpot), sales of refurbished computers doubled in the United Kingdom during the last quarter of 2025 compared to the same period the year before. This growth placed the UK ahead of Germany. In countries such as Spain, Italy, and France, demand for refurbished systems increased by 7%.

Buying a refurbished second-hand computer can be a good decision if the price makes sense and the condition is good. These systems usually come with a warranty, and in some cases, they are almost new while costing several hundred dollars less than brand-new models.

For many consumers facing higher hardware prices, refurbished PCs offer a practical and more affordable alternative.
