Even though the acclaimed open world, western action-adventure video game Red Dead Redemption is not coming to the PC, we can still catch a small glimpse of what it could have looked like. Courtesy of Matt Billeci, who is a Polycount member by the way, we will soon be able to feast our eyes on a Red Dead Redemption-inspired saloon created in Unreal Engine 4. Red Dead Redemption received numerous awards since its initial launch in 2010, including several “Game of the Year” awards.
Keep in mind that this is still a work in progress, which means that there is still a bit of polishing left to do. Matt decided to release a few screenshots of the saloon, and I have to admit that it looks quite spectacular. The lighting effects, the textures and the reflections are particularly impressive, not to mention realistic. Realism seems to be one of those things that Unreal Engine 4 excels at, as quite a few other artists managed to create exceptional renderings using its tools.
Have a look at the following screenshots and let us know what you think about Matt’s work so far.
