SAMA G850 80 Plus Gold Power Supply Review

The SAMA G850 is a fully modular power supply unit designed for PC enthusiasts and gamers building high-performance systems, without breaking the bank. SAMA might be a relatively new name to many of our readers, but we’ve had a bit of experience with them here at eTeknix, and it seems they’re quickly making a name for themselves, with a wide range of cases, coolers, and of course, power supplies. This 850W unit comes with a robust 80 PLUS Gold certification, and thanks to ATX 3.1 compatibility and it being PCIe 5.1 ready, it ticks all the right boxes for modern gaming PC builds, and the latest and greatest processors.

Key Features

The SAMA G850 has plenty to offer, with a combination of good efficiency, robust modern standards compliance, and the promise of powerful output and silent operation. SAMA has also ensured long-term quality by fitting a high-quality main Japanese capacitor, known for their longevity and stable performance. Albeit it does imply that the other capacitors aren’t Japanese, but we’ll get into that later when we open it up. Furthermore, the unit features an ECO fan mode that allows for fanless operation under low load or internal temperature (below 55°C or 40% load), ensuring near-silent computing when running less intensive tasks like doom scrolling reddit or playing less demanding games.
