Samsung 9100 PRO 2TB PCIe 5 M.2 SSD Review
Samsung has a rich history when it comes to high-end enthusiast-grade SSDs, having been the popular choice for high-end systems for many years now. That trend looks set to continue with the new Samsung 9100 Pro 2TB drive, which uses the latest PCIe 5.0 M.2 specifications, allowing it to deliver massive read and write speeds.
The Samsung 9100 PRO M.2 SSD is rated for read/write speeds of up to 14,700/13,400 MB/s, putting it firmly on the extreme end of the performance scale. That’s around twice as fast as Samsung’s own Gen4 drive, and with random read/write speeds up to 1,850K/2,600K IOPS, it’ll hold up with demanding workflows and gaming processes.

Of course, the downside is that this drive won’t be particularly cheap. However, when you’re dealing with high-capacity, high-performance, and high-quality storage, you expect it to come at a price premium. Furthermore, I think it’s fair to say that Samsung have a bit of a premium price attached to their name too; largely off the back off their strong reputation in the enthusiast PC market.
As you might expect, the drive uses Samsung’s latest 5nm controller, and their own Samsung V-NAND, which is what often gives Samsung an advantage, as they’ll know their controller and NAND better than anyone.
