Samsung Breaks the 1,000Hz Barrier with a 6K Glasses-Free 3D Gaming Monitor
Samsung has revealed its new line of Odyssey monitors ahead of CES 2026, showcasing cutting-edge display technology. The South Korean company aims to set new technical standards by introducing 6K resolutions for gaming and refresh rates that surpass 1,000 Hz.
Glasses-Free 3D
The most innovative model is the Odyssey 3D (G90XH), a 32-inch monitor with 6K resolution that delivers a 3D experience without the need for glasses or accessories. It uses real-time eye-tracking technology to adjust depth and perspective based on the viewer’s position. Samsung has also worked with developers to optimize games such as Lies of P and Stellar Blade, allowing players to switch between standard 2D and the new immersive 3D mode.
For competitive gamers, the highlight is the Odyssey G6 (G60H), a 27-inch monitor that becomes the world’s first to reach 1,040 Hz in HD resolution using its Dual Mode feature. In native QHD, it maintains an impressive 600 Hz refresh rate. The goal is to provide crystal-clear motion with no blur, even during fast-paced action scenes.
The Odyssey G8 series expands with three models for different needs:
- G80HS offers 6K resolution at 165 Hz.
- G80HF delivers 5K resolution but increases fluidity to 180 Hz (or 360 Hz in QHD mode).
- Odyssey OLED G8 (G80SH) uses a QD-OLED 4K panel running at 240 Hz, featuring DisplayPort 2.1 (UHBR20) for improved image quality.
All these models support AMD FreeSync Premium and are compatible with NVIDIA G-Sync. They will be showcased to the public for the first time at CES 2026 in Las Vegas, held from January 6 to 9.
