Samsung Unveils the Galaxy Buds4 Series with Sleek New “Blade” Design
Samsung has officially pulled back the curtain on its latest audio line-up: the Galaxy Buds4 and the Galaxy Buds4 Pro. This new generation marks a significant departure from the pebble-like shapes of old, introducing what Samsung calls a “blade” design identity. By analysing data from hundreds of millions of ear shapes, Samsung aims to provide a more stable, ergonomic fit that remains comfortable for all-day use.
“With the Galaxy Buds4 series, our design philosophy was uncompromising, providing all-day comfort without sacrificing audio performance, because these are what consumers value most,” said Ikhyun Cho, Corporate VP of Mobile Enhancement R&D Team.
Galaxy Buds4 and Buds4 Pro
The series is split into two distinct designs to suit different user preferences. The Galaxy Buds4 Pro utilises a canal-fit (in-ear) design to maximise noise isolation and sound depth. Meanwhile, the standard Galaxy Buds4 features an open-fit design, ideal for those who prefer a less intrusive feel while still enjoying high-quality audio. Both models feature a new transparent “clamshell” charging case and a premium metal finish on the stems, which now include an engraved pinch-control area for easier navigation.
Key Features and Specifications
- Enhanced Audio: Buds4 Pro features a new, wider woofer (20% larger vibrating area) and a dedicated tweeter for deeper bass and crisp highs.
- Hi-Fi Sound: Full support for 24-bit/96 kHz high-resolution audio.
- Improved ANC: Adaptive Active Noise Cancellation that adjusts in real-time based on your environment and ear shape.
- Super Clear Call: Uses super wideband technology for HD Voice quality, even in noisy environments.
- AI Integration: Hands-free access to Bixby, Google Gemini, and Perplexity.
- Head Gestures: Control calls and AI agents via simple head movements (Pro model only).
What We Think
While some may compare the stem-style look to other popular designs, how much more room for improvement in the design department is there to be made? The inclusion of high-bitrate audio and the 20% increase in woofer size should satisfy those looking for a richer soundstage without carrying bulky over-ear headphones. The integration into the Galaxy ecosystem remains a primary selling point. Users can now pair their buds simply by opening the case near a Galaxy device, bypassing the need to manually dive into the Galaxy Wearable app. Furthermore, the strategic placement of the outer microphones on the metal blade is designed specifically to cut down on wind noise, a common bugbear for those who take calls while walking outdoors.
