SanDisk Extreme PRO 128GB USB3.0 Flash Drive Review

A Closer Look

Alongside the drive itself we go ge a couple of bonus extras to help us along the way. The first of these is a full copy of SanDisk’s own Secure Vault V2 software which comes preloaded on the drive and this enables you to safely store data on your drive without the worry of it getting into the wrong hands. The second extra is a one year subscription of RescuePRO which allows you recover any content that may have been deleted from the drive in full.

The Extreme Pro’s body is made up of an aluminium shell with a black plastic insert which not only contains the PCB, it supports the sliding mechanism to hide the USB plug away inside the body when not in use.

On the end of the drive is a small cutaway with a hole on the metal casing for attaching the drive to a set of keys. A small white USB 3.0 print is an easy reminder that this drive has higher performance levels to give.

Etched in to the underside of the drive is the model name, capacity and a few other pieces of information regarding the regulations that the drive conforms to. By etching this information into the body, SanDisk can make it less obvious to see, unlike a label which would look quite out-of-place on a drive of this nature.

When plugged into a USB port we can get a better idea of how long it is. Thanks to its slim body there is no obstruction over neighbouring ports, unlike Patriot’s Magnum flash drive which I use for our USB port testing on system reviews.
