Sandy Bridge prices dropping

With the arrival of Ivy Bridge in sight, Intel has today dropped the price of some of their Sandy Bridge CPUs. A 10 to 15% drop will be noted in the Core i3 and i5 series.
With such a move, Intel is hoping to stimulate market demands through this reduction in price, says Digitimes, which has been in contact with the company since the announcement of Ivy Bridge’s arrival in April 2012.
Other companies such as Asustek computer and Acer have already dropped the price of their Core i5-2430 equipped notebook model to below $659, and the same as been done with Core-i3 equipped models.
Vendors, on the other hand, will be expected to hack about the prices of the first-generation Core i5-based ultrabooks to $799-899 in January of 2012 so the inventories can be emptied and to avoid these machines killing off the next generation ultrabooks.
As for the next-generation Ivy Bridge, prices are not expected to go very high, and feature only slight raise of only 10 to 15% over the existing Intel’s CPU.
